  Some Alan B Pub Jugs...
In the beginning David Westcott from Australia had a considerable influence on how we looked at things which were readily available here in the UK, and along with my buddy Gordon Litherland we struck a collective chord in the field of Pub Jugs. Gordon had an idea to put together the worlds first ever book on the subject and in typical style lured me down to Burton on Trent to compose & combine our ideas. Pictures and words were thrown together. I think I stayed overnight that week-end and by day two we had the ‘bones’ of a book.
I prepared the rough layout of printers screened images and typed text stuck onto A4 pages and posted it
down to Gordon for approval. Lots and lots of typos/ mistakes in there (typical AB). Imagine my shock when a
few weeks later a small package dropped through the letterbox - it was all done, dusted, printed!
Gordon was never slow at getting things done! Thus was born the very first (albeit needing many corrections) publication devoted purely to an up and coming specialist area in the UK and overseas.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing, we both should have gone all out to buy as many jugs that were readily available at the time before the category took off BIG style worldwide, and our little tentative effort was superceded by the much finer David Westcott book not too long afterwards!
