Across Canada, golf courses have been looking for opportunities to support their local communities and generate revenue during the COVID-19 pandemic. One such example was eQuinelle Golf Club in Kemptville, ON, who offered a curbside Fish & Chips Drive Thru on Good Friday.
With thorough planning, attention to detail, and great enthusiasm, the team was able to process 95 vehicles with 192 individual fish & chip meals over a 2-hour period. The event was promoted a few days in advance with an e-blast to the local community as hungry guests sent in their orders via email, and then all requests were confirmed and finalized.
This planning provided enough time to prepare with all hands-on deck, including General Manager Rick Milks helping Executive Chef Roger Weldon in the kitchen.
The team developed an effective plan that maintained social distancing as they processed payment and delivered the food to each car without the guests leaving their vehicles. The staff was outfitted with the necessary PPE including hats, masks and gloves. To keep everyone safe, the food delivery team changed gloves after each car and disinfected the credit card machine after each transaction. The positive feedback that the club received afterwards from the local community made all their efforts worthwhile.
