Members are participating and utilizing the NGCOA Canada Rounds Played and Weather Reporting more than ever! May 2016 had the highest number of participating courses thus far. Thank you for your efforts!
To date, 2016 has experienced increased golf participation in most regions across the country, especially Quebec, Alberta, and the Atlantic Provinces. The weather played a large role with respect to these improvements, as the winter and early spring conditions were more conducive to a better start to the golf season.
The winter golf season in B.C. was not as strong as last year due to a rainy January and February which impacted the entire country’s early season Year-To-Date numbers, as they are the only region operating during this time of the year. Improvements in the national Year-To-Date numbers have been occurring every month since March.
You will notice a new data set in your 2016 Regional Chapter Reports. We were asked by operators to begin a “9-Hole Only”
report. These numbers will include 9-Hole operations, plus multi-hole facilities that have a separate 9-hole course in conjunction with their 18-hole courses.
We encourage all facilities to continue to contribute their data on a monthly basis. Your information is confidential and it takes only seconds to complete this monthly task. Reports are an aggregate of all the courses that have entered information in their region.
Average temperatures only tell part of the weather story. The more important weather fact that we report on each month is the ‘weather score’ that is provided by the operators in your region. This number represents the aggregate opinion of how your peers rated the entire weather picture for your area including: wind, rain, heat, humidity, fog, frost, and a number of other factors that may contribute to a golfer’s decision to play golf.
Your Rounds Played and Weather Report information and data requests will be delivered to your inbox the first Tuesday of each month, or you can view them online at www.ngcoa.ca.
