have recently returned from the NGCOA Canada Summer Board meeting. The Summer Board Meeting is the largest board meeting of the year where the board reviews, gives direction, and ultimately approves the budgets and strategic plans for the coming fiscal year that begins July 1.
Firstly, I want to share how the budget and strategic plan for each Chapter and Department are set. We are a bottom- up type of organization where each Chapter Advisory and Regional Director (staff) set their budgets and strategic plans with the final approval process at the Summer National Board meeting.
The integrated system that the NGCOA Canada operates within ensures that every province has a voice with every President from each chapter Advisory Board represented at the National Board table.
I am proud of this system. It ensures that we are ONE strong Association all working for the greater good of golf course owners and operators across the country. There may be regional differences from Newfoundland to Vancouver but our integrated system allows us to recognize and respect these differences while always moving the Business of Golf agenda forward.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the hardworking men and women (did I mentioned that they are volunteers) that sit at that boardroom table with me. They are passionate about their responsibility and are innovators who work tirelessly on your behalf to make sure that YOUR Association is always moving forward.

I would also like to thank all the Chapter Advisory Board Members who always have your best interest at hand and NGCOA Canada Staff who execute the day-to-day agenda that the Board sets.
Next time you see or talk to these great people, thank them for the hard work they do on your behalf and for this industry we all love!
With upcoming elections in November, there will be some new faces at the board table along with the veterans. It will be a great mix of new ideas combined with years of experience. A winning combination in my opinion!
I look forward to seeing you in Whistler where we can toast the end of another successful season as we prepare for 2017!
Respectfully,
Gilles Debut
