See you at The Canadian, January 18-20!
As I write this message, the two
fall field days have come and gone. I was fortunate to attend both the east and west fall field days along with approximately 170 participants at both events. Both tournaments were held at exceptional golf cours- es. I was honoured to host the east fall field day and was very proud of my turfcare team and our clubhouse operations for working through the Quebec restrictions regarding gath- erings.
Alberta restrictions came into ef- fect just as our event started but it did not stop Canmore Golf & Curling Club from putting on a great event and following the Alberta protocols. I want to thank Reid Solodan, AGS, and his team for giving us a great golf course to play on. It was nice to see superintendents from across the country at both of our events.
This year presented a unique set of challenges for golf courses across the country. The lack of rain, the heat, and the smoke from the forest fires made for great and interesting con- versations at both events. The com- mon denominator for both fall field days was face to face conversations between superintendents. It has tak-
en a while to get to that point but it was nice to finally meet up in person. It is important to attend these events and meet with fellow superinten- dents and industry representatives to have good dialogue about what is going on in different parts of the country. The only way to do that is to attend local and national events.
As we look forward to hosting more events, the CGSA is very happy to announce a partnership with the OGSA to cohost the 2022 Canadian Golf Course Management Confer- ence in Toronto. We have not part- nered with the OGSA since 2016. This is very exciting news for both asso- ciations. Keep January 18-20, 2022, open in your calendar to take advan- tage of a great speaker program and the largest golf course equipment trade show in Canada.
I hope everyone has a great off- season. Please stay safe and I look forward to seeing you in Toronto! GM
