RoUNDS PLAYED REPoRtING
As a result of the NGCOA Canada Rounds Played Reporting system, we can now benchmark national, provincial and regional rounds played data. Based on data received from NGCOA Canada member courses in 2014, this is how last season turned out.
Nationally we saw a minor decline of 1.79% in rounds played over the previous year, however some provinces fared better than others: Alberta saw an increase of 0.4%, the Prairies and increase of 1.88%, Quebec an increase of 2.53% and Atlantic Canada saw an increase of 4.52% over the previous season. British Columbia and
Ontario both showed a decline over the previous year with BC posting a decline of 1.58% and Ontario a decline of 5.12%. Many attribute the downward trend to the poor weather at the start of the 2014 season. This may be true particularly in Ontario where, for example, the Greater Toronto Area region experienced 43 days of below average temperatures in February and March, 2014.
Starting April 2015, the NGCOA Canada’s Rounds Played Reporting will introduce a regional ‘Weather Score’ for our industry. This will help the entire industry better understand the impact weather has on rounds played.
