Ryan Beauchamp, Envu, announces Eric Ruhs as the 2023 CGSA/Envu Superintendent of the Year at the 2023 Fall Field Day at Beacon Hall Golf Club.

“Eric Ruhs is a past classmate, colleague and a friend I have gained a tremendous amount of respect for over the past 40 years,” said Jim Flett, AGS, CGSA Past President. “Graduating at the top of our class of 85A at the University of Guelph, Eric applied his supreme knowledge in a career of developing the Ottawa Hunt into a world class facility, hosting numerous PGA and LPGA events. During his tenure of over 40 years at the club, he successfully implemented and managed several Master Plan upgrades to the course working with world class architects Thomas McBroom and Dr. Michael Hurdzan to help maintain the course’s highly ranked status”.
When asked to give advice to his younger self he says, “Calm down – tomorrow is another day”. He concluded indicating he is very fortunate to have a very supportive family. His wife Cheryl and two sons Tyler and Michael along with his special helper at the golf course, his dog.
We hope you will come out and support Eric who will be recognized during The Canadian Golf Course Management Conference and presented with his award during the Award Luncheon in February 2024.
As the CGSA/Envu Superintendent of the Year winner, Eric will receive the following:
• Attendance at and participation in the 2023 Fall Field Day;
• Eric and his wife, Cheryl, will receive an “All-Access” registration to The Canadian Golf Course Management Conference in Montreal, Quebec from February 27-29, 2024, 4 nights’ accommodation at the Hotel Bonaventure and transportation to Montreal;
• A site visit with a written agronomic report from an Envu Green Solution Specialist, including a $5,000 Envu plant protection package for the golf course and trip for two to attend an Envu educational opportunity that would include golf. GM
