course features a variety of hole lengths, with par 3s ranging from 70 to 135 yards, par 4s under 200 yards, and a par 5 that is less than 300 yards. These shorter yardages make it possible for players to experience the thrill of making a par or even a birdie. To maintain an authentic golf experience, we ensured that the greens on Lil Devil match the speed and quality of those on the larger Blue Devil course, providing consistent play conditions across both courses.
COURSE DESIGN AND LOW MAINTENANCE
Lil Devil is more than just another short course—it’s an executive nine-hole golf course that is a part of the Blue Devil Golf Club, which includes a Championship 18-hole course and the Mini Devil mini-putt course. The nine- hole course features two sets of tees, allowing it to play between 1,053 and 1,198 yards. What sets Lil Devil apart from the big course is its minimalist design approach. The course has zero bunkers and utilizes bentgrass greens (T-1) spread over 27,000 square feet. The compact 14-acre property is divided into 9 acres of Kentucky bluegrass, with the remaining area covered in a low-
maintenance fescue blend. This strategic blend of grass types allows for both aesthetic appeal and practical, cost-effective upkeep.
Maintaining Lil Devil is truly a superintendent’s dream. With no bunkers to worry about, the maintenance requirements are minimal. All Kentucky bluegrass is maintained at a height of .75 inches. Interestingly, this height of cut has also been adopted at one of our sister courses, Serenity, which features a much longer layout at 6,800 yards from the back tees.
