Fall Reflections and Conference Countdown
Fall is one of my favourite seasons,
offering a sense of renewal and change. Here in Ontario, we are typically treated to cooler temperatures that bring out the colours of the leaves.
I recently returned from a succ- essful Fall Field Day event in Vancouver where we partnered with our colleagues at the British Columbia Golf Superintendents Association; providing attendees the ability to attend two great events. Both Host Superin- tendents, Andrew Hart at Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club and Phil Bunting at University Golf Club along with their respective teams, had their golf courses in excellent shape to show off for their peers from BC as well as those who travelled from other parts of Canada. I would like to extend my appreciation to the teams at both Shaughnessy and University for their assistance in hosting both events. I know that the experience was a highlight for those who attended.
During this event, the CGSA Board of Directors met for their Fall meeting. We reviewed our programs from the past year and explored new ideas and activities. I was very pleased to share that our Club Membership option has been a success. Introduced in the
spring, we have seen nearly 55 clubs sign on to participate in this initiative, resulting in 232 members. We recognize that not everyone in our Club Membership will be able to participate in our in-person events, so we are working on some new ideas to provide additional benefits.Ourstaffwillalsobereviewing various committee projects to bring to our members.
We look forward to the next time we will be together, February 25th-27th, as we travel to Niagara Falls, Ontario, to host the 2025 Canadian Golf Course Management Conference, in partnership with the Ontario Golf Superintendents Association.
The planning committee has been working diligently to put together a program that will engage and educate while giving attendees an opportunity to visit the Falls. I hope that many of you attend this outstanding industry event and take in the sights of one of Canada’s number one tourist destinations. Until next time!
