the now ubiquitous cell phone was yet to be invented, and irrigation systems were simple and relatively inefficient.
In the early 90’s, much of the irrigation was still done by hand with quick coupling valves. At that time a “modern” cutting edge system was comprised of a DOS driven computer and large mechanical satellite controllers turning on block valves with 4 to 6 pop-up sprinklers per circuit. Although they were “automatic,” it took a lot of labour to set them up and adjust them each day to compensate for the changing weather.

systems from almost anywhere in the world. Instead of large mechanical controllers and solenoid activated block valves controlling 4 to 6 sprinkler, Rain Bird’s ICS system can communicate directly to control modules and valves in each sprinkler. This results in conserving our natural resource, providing the best possible playing conditions, and at the same time, saving operating dollars.
The same can be said for our relationship with the NGCOA Canada. Our program has grown and evolved over the years into a strong and lasting relationship based on mutual appreciation and support.”
2016: MEMBERS SAVED OVER $3.9 MILLION
Each year, the NGCOA Canada generates critical funding through the Golfmax Purchasing Program and the related supplier agreements.
As a not-for-profit trade association, the financial support that we receive from our Golfmax Suppliers is invested in adult and junior player development programs like our Take A Kid To The Course program that engages over 60,000 golfers annually at over 700 golf facilities.
The financial support allows us to lobby government at both the provincial and federal level. Without this financial support the NGCOA Canada would have to increase member dues in order to maintain our current programming. Golfmax allows the NGCOA Canada to continue to provide strong business support to Canadian golf course
