Delivering Increased Value to 2 Memberships: NGCOA Canada and CGSA Collaborate
September was an exciting month for NGCOA Canada and the CGSA. On September 7th, the associations announced a partnership to share on delivering the Golfmax Purchasing Program to CGSA members.
The CGSA’s endorsement of the Golfmax Purchasing Program means increased member benefits for CGSA members, increased program awareness, negotiating power, and program utilization. This growth of the Golfmax Purchasing Program will result in cutting operational expenses for the combined memberships and a growth in market share for Golfmax suppliers, creating a win-win-win scenario for the Canadian golf industry.
“It’s our responsibility as the NGCOA Canada to identify new opportunities that will benefit our members,” said Jeff Calderwood, Chief Executive Officer, NGCOA Canada. “Our alignment with the CGSA for the turf and operations portion of the Golfmax Purchasing Program will allow the NGCOA Canada to develop new supplier programs, strengthen existing supplier programs, and ultimately increase the number of members that save through Golfmax. We are very excited to be partnering with the CGSA on this project.”
The Golfmax collaboration was followed by the announcement that Jeff Calderwood will be taking on a shared leadership role in both associations. In addition to continuing in his role as Chief Executive Officer of NGCOA Canada, Jeff will also serve as the Executive Director of the CGSA.

“The CGSA board of directors and staff team are excited about Jeff’s leadership for the future benefit of the association itself and superintendents throughout Canada. His strategic approach to association management and such relevant experience are a great fit for the CGSA’s leadership needs. I would like to publicly welcome Jeff to the CGSA and really look forward to working together,” stated CGSA President Jim Flett.
In October, both organizations announced that they would be combining their magazines, Golf Business Canada and GreenMaster into one book. Each magazine will remain independent with a reversible read, one side being Golf Business Canada and the flip side being GreenMaster. Readers will benefit as they will now be receiving two magazines. One with a focus on turf and maintenance and one with a focus on business and operational needs. With the increase in distribution of both magazines, the advertisers also win as a result of this collaboration.
It should be noted that the NGCOA Canada and CGSA will remain as two independent associations; however these opportunities for collaboration are being pursued to strengthen the ability of both to provide effective service to their respective memberships.
