allows for a steady cash flow every day and gives people an incentive to get out and use their membership. So far this season we have already surpassed 450 members, which is an incredible 50% growth over the previous year!
Our new junior development membership costs $230 and includes enrollment in two junior programs, unlimited play of the par-3 course, and member rates for range balls. Nearly 60 kids have taken advantage of this membership so far.
There is seldom a time at our facility that you do not see juniors around. For many, Eagles Chance has become their second home. They get dropped off in the morning, hit balls, play the course numerous times throughout the day, and socialize with their friends. We believe there is no better place for kids to spend their time. They are getting exercise, having fun, and staying out of trouble.
If these kids grow up around the course, they will learn valuable lessons through the programs and by watching the adults around them. They will know how to act respectfully and how to treat others, and, at the end of the day, learning to love the game is an added bonus.
LADIES GOLF PROGRAM
There is no better way to get women into the game than by providing a social and fun environment. We run multiple ladies clinics throughout the year and have a “Ladies Day” every Thursday.
Ladies Day includes “closest to the hole” prizes and a hole-in-one jackpot for the low cost of $1 every time they play, in addition to their
green fee. More women are coming out each week to enjoy a quick round of golf. The round of golf fits easily into their schedules as it takes less than an hour to play the par-3 course.
This is the first year we have run this ladies program at Eagles Chance, and we are very excited by the strong turnout. Often, I see mothers of the kids in my junior clinics are coming out to learn the game, so that they are able to get out and enjoy themselves with their kids!
GROWING THE GAME
As I mentioned earlier, in 2015, I am happy to say golf is booming in Pictou County, Nova Scotia! My family and I feel blessed to meet and interact with so many great people in the golf community. Our plan is to continue to grow the game by focusing on young golfers, getting them involved early and retaining them throughout the years. So far, so good!
