Iwas at the McDonald’s drive- thru and ordered a medium coffee. What I heard next was a classic case of upselling. The voice on the box said, “would you like two cookies to go with the coffee for $1.49?” and I said yes. I didn’t think I wanted a cookie but when it was offered, my immediate reaction was to say yes. “Would you like fries with that?” and I say yes, “would you like a new shirt and tie to go with your new suit?” and I say yes.
