Conquer 2020 with the best money-making ideas in the industry! Golf course owners and operators presented their proven money-savings and revenue- generating ideas at The Great Canadian Idea Share, which is one of the most highly regarded and beneficial components of the annual Golf Business Canada Conference & Trade Show.
Delegates voted for their favourite revenue boosting or expense management idea. It has been our pleasure to present the four winning ideas in Golf Business Canada magazine over the past year.
Our 1st Place Winner, Brian Schaal, Copper Point Golf Club, was given an opportunity to choose the Kubota tractor, mower, or utility vehicle of his choice, which will be theirs for one full season. Tee-On provided the top four winners with a generous $500 cash prize!

We are always looking for opportunities to improve customer experience. We noticed that our revenue numbers on cart rentals weredwindlingandourfleetof pull carts were in largely mediocre condition, at best. So, we decided to refocus and develop a new program for our walking clientele.
We threw out our old carts and ordered 35 Clic Gear 3.5+ carts in white. We paid $190 per cart. We built and displayed 5 carts at the Ottawa-Gatineau Golf Expo in March and sold them at the show for $250 each.
We used the remaining 30 carts as rentals. To ensure they weren’t stolen, we put a screw through the collapse levers and locked them up at night using a locking wire. We ordered 5 additional carts to sell during the season and kept them in the boxes.
We now charge rental fees of $5 for 18 holes and $2.50 for 9
holes. Members with club storage can use them for free if they do not store their carts. Junior members can also use them for free.
Throughout the season, we sold the 5 carts that we left in boxes and we also sold cart accessories like the seat, the cover and seed bottles. In September, we advertised that we were selling the rentals and created a waiting list.
On October 1st, we started selling the rentals for $189 each and sold 20 of them to those on the waiting list. We have 10 carts left in stock, which we plan to sell before the end of the year and then we are going to do it all over again next year.
This program was definitely a success. Our rental revenue increased by 400% and total revenue generated with the sale of new carts, rental revenue and accessories this year was over $10k!
