President’s Point of View
As I write my last point of view as
President of CGSA I must look back on the year that was. We are still going through COVID protocols for a second year. Changes have come in this year as we were able to gather with restrictions and have two fall field days (East-West) with about 170 participants. It was nice to get out and see everyone at these two events. The decision to pivot to a virtual event for the 2022 Canadian was not taken lightly however we need to protect our members, stakeholders and their families. I hope you will participate in the virtual event which will continue to provide an outstanding education program and trade show. It is great to be partners with the OGSA again for the first time since 2016.
I want to thank the staff of the CGSA, Kathryn, Barb, Lori, and Jeff, for putting in the extra effort over the past two years with COVID protocols and implementing new technologies used in setting up the 2021 and 2022 conferences online. The conference committee from both OGSA and CGSA have been working hard putting together a great speaker program.
I want to thank the board of directors from across the country with the time and effort they put into the association. I appreciate the great conversations and exchanging of ideas at our board meetings. I would like to thank Brad Allen, AGS for his time and effort he has put in on the board. I wish Brad all the best on his new position and move out west. I would like to welcome Matt Blackburn to the board of directors to finish Brad’s term as Atlantic Director.
The CGSA has had another positive year financially. We are on the right track, but there is still work to be done in order to continue to make our association stronger, with programs to pursue. The board will continue to make the right decisions for the betterment of our association. I want to thank all our sponsors for their support of the CGSA. We are lucky to have dedicated partners to help promote our association. We all are indebted to all of you.
I would like to wish everyone a great off season and hope to see you assoonasitissafetodoso.Staysafe. GM
