winners, and the pot can balloon because of the number of golfers paying in on that hole.
Golf Relay: This is a team event where members of the team switch off after each shot, like a relay running event. One person drives the ball, then the next hits the ball onto the green, then the next puts it in, and so forth and so on. The idea is just to switch out in a set rotation after each hit to make the course more challenging. The team that completes the tournament quickest and the team with the lowest score are both given prizes.
Corn Hole: Set up a chipping contest off to the side of a tee area of a Par 3 hole and add in this fun element. Have each of the 4 golfers chip a golf ball into a cup/bucket/ garbage can. If a team gets one ball in, they tee off from the 150-yard marker; two balls, 100-yard marker; three balls, from 50 yards; four balls, they are putting; and if they miss all 4 chips, they tee off from their regular tee block.
Golf Pong: If you have a hole that consistently gets backed-up during a tournament, consider running a golf pong contest. Off to the side of the tee blocks, set up two sets of 6 large buckets in a pyramid formation about 10 feet apart. A team of two golfers compete against another team of two golfers. With the goal of chipping a ball into all 6 buckets. The first to chip into all 6 wins.
Par 3 Challenge: Make all holes as Par 3’s. This will make for a very fast round, as well as something different for the golfers. This would be a great challenge for a tournament that is sponsored by a car dealership. You could do a hole-in-one opportunity at every hole with a car on every hole.
Golden Tee: Each golfer / playing group receives a specially painted tee. They can use this tee to tee their shot up anywhere (except the green) until they lose it or break it. Great for new/beginner golfers. It is easy to make a “golden tee” using plain wooden tees and paint.
Hole of Fortune: Set up a wheel-of- fortune style prize wheel near a hole, ideally a par 3. To generate funds for the cause, charge $5 to spin the wheel. In half of the prize slots, include some rewards, like: • Tee off from the closest tee box
• Get an extra mulligan
• A sleeve of golf balls
• Get double your money back
• Automatic hole in one
But, make it interesting by making the other half of the slots not so reward. For example, hit your next shot while blindfolded OR tee off from the rough.
