CHAIR’S LETTER
Carl Lathan
Happy April to each of you and WELCOME to our newest members!
April is known for beautiful spring weather, the start of warmer weather, and right about the time when the Easter bunny will make an appearance! There are quite a few notable historical people born in April, such as Leonardo da Vinci, Shakespeare, and Queen Elizabeth II. On April 15, 1912, the famous Titanic ship hit an iceberg and sunk on her first and only voyage. George Washington was inaugurated as the First President of the United States on April 30, 1789. April proves to be a very exciting month.
Did you know: Congress established the first U.S. Mint at Philadelphia on April 2, 1792. Apple Computers, Inc. was founded on April 1, 1976 (no foolin’).
National Public Health Week is observed during the first week of April every year. That’s seven days to champion health of all Americans. It’s a week to recognize everyone should lead healthier lives, irrespective of where they live, work, or come from. It’s also a week when we should campaign for health policies that are fair, inclusive, and accessible to all communities.
Federal income tax returns are due April 18! Have you filed?
I implore each of you to check out the many exciting and entertaining events happening within the Greater North County Chamber service area this month. You may find the calendar of events on the Chamber website, Facebook page and in the monthly newsletter. I would like to draw special attention to MUSIC TRIVIA NIGHT “MOV- IES & TV” on April 30th (doors open at 6pm). Please register online or contact the Chamber office. You don’t want to miss this event.
May the freshness of April bring joy to your hearts and minds.
Carl
