                                       ONCALERT:
THE SCIENCE OF EARLIER
HOW THE ONCALERT ORAL CANCER LAB TEST WORKS
This unique test is highly specific and sensitive, with high intra- and inter-assay reproducibility
• Quantitatively detects all CD44 isoforms and total protein
• Creates historical, longitudinal profile of patient's oral/oropharyngeal cavity CD44 and total protein levels when incorporated in a follow-up
• The measurements are reported back to the clinician for use as an aid in diagnosis
• May reduce the incidence of false negatives compared to a conventional oral exam alone
• Incorporates clinical variables (e.g. age, sex, race, smoking history)
for improved performance
• May be used following a positive RAPID test to improve discrimination between benign and malignant processes
DISCUSSING ONCALERT LAB TEST RESULTS WITH YOUR PATIENTS
A healthcare professional may do one or more of these things:
 Test Result
Lesion
    ++ Test Positive
      – Test Negative
   Test Result The clinician is recommended to proceed with appropriate action including a possible biopsy.
 With Lesion
The quantitative OncAlert Oral Cancer LAB Test can be introduced to help refine the risk discrimination process.
    The decision to biopsy remains at the sole discretion of the treating physician.
Repeat the OncAlert Oral Cancer RAPID Test within 1 year and discuss with the patient modifications of risk behavior.
    Without Lesion
Lifestyle Counseling :
• tobacco cessation
• alcohol reduction or elimination • practice good oral hygiene
• improve nutrition
Schedule a second OncAlert Oral Cancer RAPID Test in 1 to 3 months or schedule an OncAlert Oral Cancer LAB Test to help refine discrimination process.
    Repeat the OncAlert Oral Cancer RAPID Test within 1 year and discuss with the patient modifications of risk behavior.
     ++
If second OncAlert Oral Cancer RAPID or LAB Test is positive, refer to appropriate specialist (e.g. oral surgeon, otolaryngologist, head and neck surgeon).
   +–
If a second OncAlert Oral Cancer RAPID or LAB Test is negative, routine follow-up (per healthcare profession protocol) with repeat OncAlert Oral Cancer RAPID or LAB Test annually.
  Anytime a worrisome lesion is identified by a clinician, a biopsy would be strongly recommended.
This test and suggested guidance is not designed to take the place of clinical findings or healthcare provider judgment. It should only be used as an aid in diagnosis.
