A TEACHER'S TEACHER LIVES THE MISSION
Most recently, she funded an innovative film project in which staff and students wrote, directed, and produced a short feature film, The Southernmost Point, which will be part of the upcoming Sarasota Film Festival.
Having seen the school grow and prosper tremendously, particularly in the last several years, no one knows better than Helen the difference the generosity of donors has made for its students and faculty – especially for a school committed to providing access to all people, including individuals encumbered by economic obstacles. Only through the love of dedicated friends and givers like Helen is MCC’s mission and vision attainable.
It is with tears of pride that I conclude this year after 45 years at
t“
he college.” Professor Helen Mallonee, when asked to reflect on her long and distinguished career at Manatee Community College, responds in her characteristically unassuming manner with words that reflect just how much she values the school that has been her life’s work. “I am humbled and proud.”
These are the too-modest sentiments of a dedicated educator who has given tremendously of herself and
her resources. Besides an extraordinary commitment of time and talent, Helen has also contributed financially to fund various projects and scholarships.
