THROUGH GIVING, AN EDUCATOR WILL BE REMEMBERED
R etired guidance counselor Nicholas
V. Rapalje has made a lasting decision that will pass on
a rich legacy.
Fifteen years into his retirement, he knew he should review his estate planning. Guided by financial planners and the Foundation for MCC, Van,
as he is known by his many friends and acquaintances,
has established a Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust (CRAT), a life-income deferred gift that benefits both donor and beneficiary.
In revamping his financial plans, Van reached out to the Foundation. He was impressed with the serious academics,
programming, and students
of Manatee Community College. Through careful estate planning, he has become part of the College’s mission and vision.
The trust he has established benefits both deserving students and Van, who retains control
of its funds while receiving a substantial tax advantage and guaranteed income for life.
His generous gift will endow scholarships for graduates of MCC who plan to pursue a baccalaureate degree at a university.
The Nicholas Van Rapalje Endowed Scholarship will carry both Van’s name and an inspiring and motivating message to its recipients.
