STAYING AHEAD OF THE CURVE
No longer confined to the areas of science and math, technological advances are changing the face of today’s classrooms and benefiting English, accounting, music, and even theater students. Ensuring that students continue to receive high quality learning experiences meaningful to new generations of learners and relevant to contemporary workplace expectations is a priority for Manatee Community College and the Foundation.
As state and federal funding decreases and costs rise, the need to raise private funds to assist MCC in meeting the technology challenge is critical. Each year
the College allocates up to $1.2 million to purchase and upgrade classroom equipment. This past year, the Foundation equipped
a state-of-the-art Professional Development Center (PDC).
The Bank of America Client Foundation through the Julius Brandenburg Fund contributed to the establishment of a cutting-edge interactive classroom for accounting students. And when science faculty found themselves in need of additional microscopes to accommodate increased nursing student enrollment, the Foundation purchased new high-powered microscopes to help alleviate the shortage.
