A CHANCE TO TOUCH LIVES
Doug DiVirgilio, president of Bank of America for Sarasota, Manatee and Charlotte counties, saw great opportunity in supporting Manatee Community College in its plans to create a specialized classroom for its teacher preparation program.
The classroom would be a high-tech environment to prepare teachers who will be part of an innovative initiative to incorporate real-life computer skills into the education of all students in grades K to 12. What better way to fulfill the bank’s commitment to education for these young learners than to assist in the education of their teachers?
As both a parent and the son of educators, Doug knows the value of a well-prepared and dedicated teacher. As the head of an institution with an exemplary commitment to helping its community grow and prosper, Doug recognized a chance to provide leadership in service to area residents.
Hundreds of teachers-in-training and certified teachers will pass through the Bank of America Teacher Technology Lab each year, acquiring skills that will enrich an incalculable number of lives in countless ways now and in the years to come.
