P. 3

 Hi Tony,
This is to wish you a happy birthday and many happy returns of the day. May the good Lord grant you all your heart’s desires and may you celebrate more of this day with your children, grand children and great grand children in good health. Moses was 120 years old and his eyes were not dim nor his natural vigor diminished (Det 34:7), and so shall your case be. For as your days, so shall your strength be (Det. 33:25) in Jesus Name.
I cannot remember how many times you’ve said “hi Ed” to me on the phone – in fact, my wife calls you “Toni, Hi Ed” – and so starting this message with ‘hi Tony” brings good memories of our good and very close working/professional relationship at the Bank. I remember you as an excellent professional, and very dedicated and kind colleagues and boss. Always, smiling and pleasantly. I cannot forget you being constantly on the road (and living at the Concordia hotel in DC for years, which is unusual but makes sense as you were often away – on mission – from your duty station). I also cannot forget about your involvement in many innovative Bank operations – PRORI in Mozambique and the SWAPs – and your undying passion for capacity development. And what about those nice Power Point presentations, normally with a cartoon person that has a bald head and I think really resembles you.
Enjoy your day, and I wish you many more decades of celebrations with Mariam and the rest of the family. Happy birthday again.
With love from Ed Olowo-Okere
