According to Eurostat data, Greek wine sales in the United States are
up 26.3% by vOlume
& 72.1% in value
over the last  ve years (2011-2016). Because of Greece’s recent dif cult
economic situation, there has been a renewed focus on exports, compelling wineries to concentrate efforts in markets outside of Greece, speci cally the U.S. and Canada. According to a recent Wine Market Council report, Millennials are especially open to Greek wines.

Wines of Portugal reports that 2016 was a banner year for exports to the U.S.,
Ç8.8% over 2015. While Portugal is still best known for its forti ed wines, table wines represent more than two-thirds of the total volume of wine exports from Portugal now. Meanwhile, in the  rst quarter of 2017, Portugal exports of still wines to the U.S. were
Ç33.9% over Q1 2016.

According to a new study from Bankrate. com, the average Millennial dines at a res- taurant or buys take-out food five times per week, in sharp contrast to their elders.

The context of the study was saving money: Just 16% of younger Millennials have saved the recommended six months’ worth of expenses, according to Sarah Berger of Bankrate.com. Many are falling
victim to what Bankrate.com calls “common  nancial vices,” such as spending money
in coffee shops, racking up bar tabs or frequently dining out. “Small steps, such as preparing meals at home and brewing your own coffee, can add up to big savings over the course of a year,” noted Berger.
But let’s hope they keep going to bars and restaurant....
