Reference: A nearly identical chair in the Winterthur Collection appears in Charles F. Montgomery’s American Furniture:; The Federal Period, page 86, entry 30. Both chairs are die-stamped “S. Badlam” on rear seat rail and “SF”, probably for journeyman Samuel Fiske.
