SAMUEL ANOINTS SAUL
Samuel took Saul and his servant into his house and gave them a place at the head of all the guests. He gave them the choicest portions of meat which he had set apart for the man whom the Lord would send that day, for God had told him that he would meet the future king of Israel. Saul ate with Samuel and slept in his house that night.
The next day at dawn Samuel called Sa l, and they went out together. As they were going toward the end of the city, Samuel said to Saul, '' Tell thy servant to pass on while thou standest here. I will tell thee the word of the Lord.''
