elder said that he saw her under a holm. Daniel said to both, "You have lied against your own heads. An angel of God waiteth to destroy you.''
When the assembly had heard Daniel's judgment, they praised God for saving those who trust in Him. They rose up against the elders and put them to death. Daniel became great in the sight of the people from that day.
One day Nabuchodonosor had a dream which fright- ened him. But the dream escaped his memory. He called together all the wise-men and the magicians to nd among them one who could tell him his dream and explain it to him. No one could be found to do such a di cult thing. In his fury, the king ordered all the
wise-meli in Babylon to be put to death.
Daniel begged God to reveal the secret to him. The
secret was revealed to him in a vision that night. Daniel went before the king. He told the king that the power which he had to tell the dream came from God, Who reveals deep and hidden things and knows what is in darkness. Then he described the dream
which the king had forgotten.
'When the king had heard Daniel's explanation of
the dream, he cried out, "Truly, thy God is the God of gods, the Lord of kings, and the revealer of hidden things.'' He made Daniel governor over all the provinces of Babylon and chief of all the wise men in his kingdom. He placed the companions of Daniel in charge of its buildings and works.
