this Court there was a large open space, anked on all sides by a high wall containing porches and halls. At its southeast corner was a high tower known as the Pinnacle of the Temple.
THINGS TO KNOW AND TO DO 1. THE LAND WH CHRIST WAS BORN
1. Prepare a class talk on the land where Christ was born and lived. Read "Jesus of Nazareth" by Mother Loyola, Chapter 14, and "The Story of Jesus," by Rosa Mulholland, Introduction. Both will help you to make an interesting talk.
2. Make a map of Palestine as it was in the time of our Lord. Show each province in a di erent colored crayon. Place in each province the important cities.
3. The following mountains are often referred to in the Old and the New Testament: Locate them on the map in your book. Mt. Olivet, Mt. Carmel, Mt. Garizim, Mt. Thabor.
4. Locate also the Jordan and Cison Rivers. Locate the Dead Sea, Lake Merom and Lake Genesareth.
5. Try to learn more about the people who governed Palestine at the time when Christ lived. Read "Old-World Foundations," by W. H.J. Kenedy-Sister Mary Joseph, Chapter VII.
2. THE P PLE OF JUDEA
1. Read "Lessons of the Savior," by a Religious of the Holy Child Jesus, Chapters I-IV.
2. Imagine that you are spending a month in Palestine in the time of our Lord with a companion of your age. Write a letter to your mother telling her about the country and the people whom you met.
3. Read again the description of Solomon's Temple. Was there any di erence between the Temple of Herod and the Temple of Solomon?
4. Why was this Temple called Herod's Temple? Who actually rebuilt the Temple?
5. The Samaritans believed in the ve Books of Moses. The true Jew believed in all the Books of the Old Testament. The Old Testament consisted of many more books. Look in the introduc tory chapter of this book to nd the number and the names of the books of the Old Testament.
