Cain went o by himself and began to brood. Gloomy thoughts lled his mind. The more he thought about what had happened, the more he hated Abel. Finally, he made up his mind to kill his brother, and invited him to take a walk with him. Abel was glad to go, because he felt sorry for Cain and ho d to comfort him. When they were far away and e could see them, Cain killed Abel.
As he gazed down at Abel, lying dead before him, Cain heard the voice of God saying, '' Cain, where is thy brother Abel1n
Cain answered, "I know not. Am I my brother's keeper1''
God said to him, ''The voice of thy brother's blood crieth to Me from the earth. Cursed shalt thou be upon the earth, which hath opened her mouth and reĀ ceived the blood of thy brother at th hand. When thou shalt ill it, it shall not yield its fruits. A fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be upon the earth."
Filled with great sorrow and remorse, Cain c ied out, "My sin is so great that I can never be pardoned. Anyone that ndeth me shall kill me."
