brought with him a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds in weight.
Together they brought the body of Jesus to a new tomb which belonged to Joseph. It had been hewn out of a rock not far from Calvary. Placing the body in the tomb, together with the spices, according to the burial custom of the Jews, they rolled a great stone across the door of the tomb and went away.
Mary Magdalen, and a number of other women who had followed Jesus from Galilee, stood by and watched while all this was going on.
