A graphing calculator can be used to find the intersection of two lines. Find the intersection of y = 2x - 5 and 2y + 3x = 6.
1. Enter the equations into the Y = Editor.
2. Graph the equations in a standard viewing window.
3. Approximate the intersection by tracing the line. Trace one of the lines by pressing . The and keys are used to move the cursor to another line. The and
keys are used to move the cursor along a line. Use the keys to move the cursor to the intersection. The coordinates of the cursor are displayed at the bottom of the screen. The approximate intersection point of
y = 2x - 5 and 2y + 3x = 6 is about
(2.3, -0.3).
4. Calculate the exact intersection.
