74 • TLC—For the Workplace
Your human or pet family member may need you—even just to bestow a comforting hug or a helpful word of ad- vice. Remember that everything gets accomplished in its own time, and when you rise to the occasion, you develop aspects of your personality and abilities, while enhancing other lives—those of your colleagues, clients and loved ones. There is nothing more empowering than giving and receiving acts and deeds of love and compassion during the course of a work day. Everything and everyone have their rightful place within your Circle of Life and Circle of Love.
Mitigate Isolation
Some people believe that working from home is isolat- ing, but when you interact with clients, engage your mind, and give life to your talents, you are anything but isolat- ed. Consider that everything you do, whether via phone, video-conferencing, or email, has an impact on someone else. In making a difference, you want to create the highest quality product, deliver the best service, or offer the most ingenious innovation. Naturally, all of us are only human, but when you do your utmost, in good faith, you act in concert with others at all times.
Set Boundaries, Prioritize, and Pace Yourself
Despite your efforts to juggle many responsibilities at once, you may not be able to achieve all of your objectives in one day. Set boundaries on your time and allocate your hours to the most pressing matters before you. Clients and family will understand that you cannot be in all places at every moment, attending to different tasks all at once. Quality must be the paramount consideration and dedi- cating yourself with your whole heart to each engagement (as if it were the only one) helps to alleviate anxiety and find your center.
