            Apple Cider-Glazed Ham
A traditional recipe that brings the earthy, comforting flavors of apple and maple to the table.

 Preparation
• Place ham in a large saucepan, filling pan with cold water until the ham is half submerged. Add apple juice, 1⁄2 cup maple syrup, pepper, whole and ground cloves, mustard seeds, and 1⁄2 tsp ginger.
• Bring to a boil over medium heat, then let simmer over low heat for 30 to 40 minutes.
• Preheat oven to 275°F (140°C). Put ham into a roasting pan, add remaining ingredients to left over maple syrup, and pour over ham.
• Roast in the oven for approximately
90 minutes, or until ham reaches an internal temperature of 140°F (60°C), basting frequently. Add a bit of water if the glaze becomes too thick or starts to caramelize.
• Serve hot, sliced thin. Pour sauce over each serving.
Ingredients
Serves 6 to 8
• 5 lb (2.25 kg) boneless or bone-in half ham • 2 cups (500 ml) apple juice
• 1 cup (250 ml) real maple syrup
• Pepper
• 7 or 8 whole cloves, to taste • 1⁄2 tsp (2.5 ml) ground cloves • 1 tsp (5 ml) mustard seeds • 1 tsp (5 ml) ground ginger
• 1⁄4 cup (60 ml) apple cider vinegar
