PariSH of tHe Holy family
Gates’ Parish of the Holy Family is one of the diocese’s newest faith communities, uniting the churches of Holy Ghost, St. Helen and St. Jude the Apostle.
The three churches became a cluster, known as Gates Catholic Community, in June 2010. They churches combined parish councils, staff and ministries, and in July 2016 formally came together

as Parish of the Holy Family.
The founding of Holy Ghost Church dates back to 1875 with German Catholic families living in the southwestern part of Gates known as Coldwater. The rst resident pastor was Father August Kraus, and the rst church cornerstone was laid and blessed by Bishop Bernard McQuaid in 1906.
