A ve-church grouping, covering 17 miles from north to south, makes up St. Luke the Evangelist in western Livingston County.
Masses were being celebrated in Mount Morris as far back as the late 1830s. As Irish immigrant Catholics arrived in the area, St. Patrick’s rst church went up in 1850, and Father James Ryan became the rst resident priest in 1857. The present-day church was dedicated in
1874 by Bishop Bernard J. McQuaid.
