cHurcH of tHe reSurrection
As the community at Fairport’s Church of the Assumption grew, Bishop Joseph L. Hogan decided in March 1973 to create a new parish to serve the eastern side of the Town of Perinton.
Bishop Hogan appointed Father Robert Kreckel as the founding pastor of the new Church of the
Resurrection in Fairport.
Before a church building was constructed, daily Masses were celebrated in the basement of the rectory on Hamilton Road, and Sunday Masses were celebrated in a building adjacent to the Fairport Central School District’s Martha Brown Middle School.
Located at 63 Mason Road, Church of the Resur- rection was completed in 1976, and its rst Mass was celebrated on Oct. 9, 1976. The building is contemporary in style, and the “Risen Christ” that hangs above the altar was created by a former parishioner.
According to the parish website, Church of the Resurrection is one of the smallest Catholic parishes in the area.
