As the Catholic presence in in western Cecil County increased Father Peter Arnd found he he needed a a church in in Rising Sun Maryland to to minister to to the growing population banded together and and asked the the the Diocese to to invest the the the insurance money in a a a a development program to to generate funds to to rebuild a a a a church This along with other fundraisers and weekend work sessions made it it possible to build a a a a new larger church church This church church was dedicated by the Most Reverend Thomas Mardaga sixth Bishop of Wilmington on April 24 1983 The church is is is used to this day Recently a a a Spanish Mass has been offered at at St Agnes on Saturday evenings for the growing Hispanic community in in the western Cecil County area Sadly on April 11 1981 a a re broke out in in the church Rising Sun’s Methodist minister ran into the the ames to to save the the Blessed Sacrament from destruction He also welcomed the parishioners into Janes Methodist Church for the parish’s priests to offer Mass Parishioners
