Shadow Buddies Organization in the past, helping children in a number of programs including their “Buddies” which are situational Dolls provided to help kids understand procedures they must go through. It turns out the charity became something much bigger than the event itself. The money we raised was well beyond our expectations and the help the donations provided was substantial.
We arrived to find a wide variety of cars; some there to play and
some looking for gold. Overall, the competition of the event was a big success, despite not getting any rain to take advantage of the Turbo’s strengths. All our preparations made it quite uneventful. As unlike many other competitors the only repairs we made were to other cars! The scouting of the courses proved rewarding and Angel’s autocross background was apparent on the new tracks. The pinnacle was a second-place finish in the drag races, third place at NCM and a number
of 6th and 7th place finishes. We were never the fastest but we were consistent building points the entire event. The Turbo carried us through the event achieving a 5th place overall, second in stock class and third in SSGT1.

“The Bandit” and Gas Monkey Garage proved we were up against some stiff competition for 2021.

In 2019 I was unable to attend
due to medical issues. The event
in 2020 was canceled due to
Covid restrictions. For 2021 Nick Wollenman and I planned to take the GTS, but with a new baby on the way it was best that he sit out a year rather than face the wrath from his wife.
