 AUTOCROSS EVENT
A CORNER VIEW

In the early morning hours of August 20, 2022, Autocross Chair Rudy Rodriguez gathered a team of volunteers (Mike Rehak, Jeff Hallem, David Stadtmueller, Jeff Wagoner, Stan Thorne and Joel Woodward) to set up an array of
Driving Center
in Independence,
Missouri. It was an
absolutely beautiful
summer day with
high temperatures
in the upper 80s
as nearly 40 drivers arrived to pit their skills and their cars against a challenging autocross course. There were a total of 33 different vehicles, some with multiple drivers. Of course, there was the normal array of beautiful Boxsters, Caymans
and 911s, but there were some not-so-normal participants as well: a Ford Mustang Mach E,
a 3 rd generation Toyota MR-2,
a Mercedes SL AMG, two C8 Corvettes, and just to make things interesting, a 1987 Bertone X1/9

The course has some unusual features, including a long slalom on the back straight that features cones at decreasing spacing. So, drivers came into the slalom
equipment and cones for a day of autocross at the Performance
(and in bright green, no less).

Let’s just say cones 5 and 6 of
the slalom section took a beating (note to KCRPCA Treasurer Jim Cummings – Rudy really needs to buy some replacement cones!). The course also had an “autocross
