GATHERING AT TOP GOLF FOR FOOD, FUN, AND ... TO SEE A BIG SWING
CLUB MEMBER
Ilove combining my favorite passions into one event. The Top Golf event was one time when
I could bring my (almost) entire family together with my best friends in my Porsche club family. I was excited that my wife and our two younger children were able to attend. Scheduling family activities for a middle school student who plays
in the band and is an athlete can be complex, and February was a limited opportunity window of time. Cassidy, my oldest daughter, chose to attend a dance at her high school, instead of spending the evening with the rest of us. I will relent and say I might have made the same choice if I were 17 and could get a date...
Now, I will let you know what kind of family we are, and it’s not a golfing family; we’re a car family. My wife also has a fun car. It’s actually the only two-seater in the fleet, not a German marque, but
I digress, now back to golf. This was one of the first times we have
tried golf and definitely a first for my wife. We loved being able
to practice making contact with the ball and seeing how far out we could hit it. We also enjoyed several of
the many “game” selections that were offered for the family to play. I think we tried Angry Birds, and some saving a princess game. The kids were excited and had a blast.
Throughout the evening we had
our “dilemmas”. What golf club do your kids start with? I think they tried most of them. Does a 9 year old use “kid’s clubs”? That seemed logical to me until Jackson informed me those are for “little kids”; it’s all relative, I suppose. Pro Tip: don’t keep making the ball machine pop out more balls than you need at a time, as inevitably someone is going to play into another person’s turn. Allison let everyone know that all of her “greatest” shots ended up as my points because Jackson gave her too many balls. Scores matter, right? Wait, what did we score anyway? So, did we spend
