 WINE AND WHEELS THE DAYS OF FALL A GOOD BOTTLE OF WINE PROVES THE WORTH OF HAVING TASTE BUDS FEATURE CONTRIBUTOR JIM RAND Hand sized golden leaves tumble across the blacktop, fluttering upward in the wake of your Porsche. Frosty air seemingly is adding another 100 horsepower to the engine. A scent of hickory from some distant fire penetrates the car’s cabin, making for the best air freshener ever. Yes! These are the driving days we dream of. After such a fine, sensually filled afternoon, why stop pleasure seeking now? After gliding into your garage, select a bottle of wine, a roll of flavor packed smoked Gouda, and relax by your backyard fire pit, reflecting on the day. There is nothing better than a good bottle of wine to prove the worth of having taste buds. Today, more wine is consumed in the U.S. than beer. There are reds and whites, dry or sweet, bottle or box, California or Missouri. The options are plentiful. Now comes Kevin Buckler, a wine AND a Porsche fan. Actually, Kevin is way more than a fan. Kevin was a world class professional racer in the ‘90s and 2000’s, driving Porsches the majority of the time. As Kevin began to spend less time driving for others, he formed his own racing team, The Racers Group, or TRG. Some 100 wins later, including Le Mans and four 24 Hours of Daytona, wine entered the picture. In 2002, Kevin and his wife Debra started Adobe Road winery in Petaluma, California. Racers and wineries together seemed to be getting popular as Mario Andretti, A.J. Foyt and other champions of the speedways have jumped into the fray. This year Adobe Road brought 13  58 Der Sportwagen YEARS
