Being without your Porsche is quite unnerving.
the eager Boy Scout. Dug, in mid- sentence stops and says, “SQUIRREL”, followed by slipping right back into the conversation he was having as if nothing had ever happened. Surely, I’m not the only one who stops mid-sentence and says, “PORSCHE!”
Distracted by Porsches
“ISQUIRREL!”
If it is a “condition”, I have it bad. You know it has gotten really bad (or good depending on how you look at it) when your own kids will interrupt you to pointoutaPorsche.Thishonestlymakes me quite proud. But, surely this is not only a family condition.
Club members will be talking in the parking lot before breakfast, waiting to head in for food and coffee, when a car with a loud exhaust drives by. Everyone’s head turns to see what kind of car own’s the burbling exhaust note. The car passes, and we slip right back
n the Pixar movie UP, there is a funny scene where Dug the dog is talking to Carl, the old man, and Russel,
into our conversation as if nothing had happened. Completely normal, right?
My lovely wife is amazed at my keen ability to suddenly focus in on something so minute as the after-market wheels on a new GT3 that is parked 3 parking lots away. (I know, right? Who puts aftermarket wheels on a GT3’s already perfect look? Why would I not stare? It is only logical in the world of Porsche- spotting.) She has also come to accept the fact that I will then do a parking lot cruise to scope out said GT3. She knows what is going on in my head. What else have they done to the car? Exhaust? Decals? Are they a member of the KCRPCA club? To be perfectly honest, we have circled parking lots more than once in order to get a full look-see of the Porsche I spotted. Is that stalking or Porsche-spotting? Can you stalk a car?
I do think my Porsche-spotting- spidey-sense is on extra high alert when someone has done a little customizing to their car. You know, to make it their own. I like to see if they have gone with bigger wheels and if the rim color works well with the car color. Maybe they added a wing or Porsche script along the doors. I like it when someone has made their Porsche their Porsche. We all have our own personal tastes.
Just don’t put after-market wheels on a GT3. I will spot it instantly.
