I MADE MY WAY UP TO 16TH, TAKING 1ST IN SP3

If you weren’t there, save the date for the September event and come hang out at the track.
Tthere was some fantastic racing the entire weekend. One of my favorite stories is the return of Richard Bennett to the Midwest. He and his family moved to Florida a few years ago and rebuilt his crazy fast 944 turbo. So, to show it off he promptly brought it back to Heartland Motorsports Park. Plagued with tire issues he finally got it dialed in for the last race on Sunday taking first in class and fifth overall in the afternoon race. Running on borrowed tires is just
all that we can to help one another get on track to race.
Both days saw 944’s win the hard charger award. On Saturday it was me, starting dead last, 37th to be exact, and I made my way up to 16th, taking 1st in SP3 and having one of the best races of my career. Sunday it was Ron Leonard starting from the back and making his way to 3rd overall in a monster boosted turbo fury. It is amazing how strong Porsches are especially when prepared for the track, even 30 year old ones.
The HPDE groups were full of race car highlights as well, including one
991 Cup car decked out in lizard green sporting full IMSA racing decals. One of my favorites was the new Rennsport KC endurance race car, a beautiful white and orange Cayman. Using the weekend for test and tune sessions at Heartland Park paid off. They took the Cayman to Road America the following weekend for some WRL racing then promptly took 2nd place in class on Saturday and 3rd in class on Sunday racing eight hours straight both days. Congratulations to Mike Armentrout, Aaron Winter, Rygh Galloway, Chris Arbuckle, and Karl Wilen for a great race!
