A Message From
Our President Lieutenant anthony burgio
Greetings Everyone!
I hope that all had the most enjoyable summer!
I just wanted to bring the membership up to date
on some events. In August, we had our first ever
Baseball Clinic, where we partnered with Lou Bernardi of
Valor Sports and the NYC Police Athletic League and co-hosted
a free baseball clinic for inner city youth on Randall’s Island. The children were also treated to a BBQ Lunch sponsored by us after the clinic was done! A special thanks to Past President Chris Pizzo, our board officers, coaches, and volunteers for joining us that day and not to mention the weather was absolutely perfect for baseball! We also had an outing to Maimonides Park in Coney Island for Italian Family Night at the Ballpark watching the Brooklyn Cyclones win.
A great night was had by all who attended!
Being that it is now September, that means that Columbus Day is upon us. I am excited to announce that we are participating in the annual Columbus Day Parade on Monday October 10, 2022,
and will be back to hosting our annual luncheon after the march up 5th Avenue at St. Jean Baptiste High School. We will be meeting at the usual place at East 47th St and 5th Avenue prior to stepping off at 1100 hours. We will make sure the flyers with the information are distributed and posted to all of our social media outlets. I ask of our membership to please bring your families, bring your friends, and spread the word to the membership both active and retired about the significance of the Columbus Day Parade and how strength comes in numbers. I would love nothing more to see hundreds, if not thousands, marching proudly together as strong and proud Italian-American Law Enforcement Officers on 5th Avenue on Columbus Day!
We also have our “Cigars Under the Stars” event on October 24th at Vetro Lounge by Russo’s on the Bay in Howard Beach, and we also will be having another NHL Hockey Game Outing at UBS Arena where the NY Rangers will be playing the NY Islanders on October 26th. Please be on the lookout for the flyers for all of our upcoming events which will be sent by email, and posted on our social media.
I thank you all for your continued support of this wonderful organization, and I look very forward to seeing you all in the very near future at some of our events! If anyone has any concerns or questions for the organization, feel free to contact any of our board officers.
Until next time, be well and be safe!
Fraternally,
Anthony Burgio
President
