Men,
Where has 2017 gone? Here we are at the conclusion of the third quarter and so much left to do. Well, I suppose I completed the most important task, but many times I feel as though I need to do just a little more. I’m sure you’ve never felt this way, lol. The personal and professional successes of many ISI men have been unprecedented. Hearing your victories and seeing many of them rst hand has been extremely motivational to many of your mastermind brothers and me. Watching, and personally participating in the 12 Week Year has been transformational to many areas
of my life. I sincerely believe I’m more focused on the right paths for my family and my business than ever before because I’m surrounded by forward thinkers like you, and I’m being held more accountable than ever before, thank you. Let us continue the momentum and crush the remainder of 2017. My life would look radically different without you guys, and for all your inspiration and motivation I’m eternally grateful. Hang tough as we march through life together.
I’m blind and so are you.
Want to know my dirty little secret? I have no depth perception. I see the world in 2-D. By the grace of God, I made it into the Navy on a technical oversight.
Early in life I didn’t realize my limitation. I thought ev- eryone perceived the world just as I did. It never oc- curred to me that the rest of the world was abnormal, clearly, I couldn’t be wrong. My ignorance made life harder. Moving from T-Ball to slow pitch was crushing or comical depending which side you were on.
Only in middle school did life get easier as I learned to read signals and rely on friends. If a basketball court was marked I could make a shot near the key, but if was unmarked, my friends knew I would pass it off.,,or toss it over the back board.
Looking back it was a great life lessons that showed me we all have blind areas and that no one is normal. All of us have limited perspective. Some physically, but all based on our experience and beliefs.
That is why Masterminds are so vital. They give us perspective, they illuminate our blind spots, they help us understand that how we perceive something is not fact, but how we perceive it.
Thanks to everyone of you who helps compensate for my “blindness”. You make my life easier, more fun, and have greater depth.
Now you know never to pick me for a pick-up game of basketball, but it’s a blessing too. As I runner I can’t exactly tell how far the nish line is, so I assume it’s closer than it looks.
Tom
