Currency import-export restrictions:
Local or foreign currencies: Amounts of or over USD10,000 must be declare.
Outgoing travellers must declare prior to departure to the National BanK amounts over USD10,000 or equivalent Visitors are advised to record every exchange in the currency Declaration form.
U.S. dollars are used extensively. Thai baht are also accepted.
A BRIEF MONETARY HISTORY
Oct. 1955: riel established at par with piastre.
Sep. 1975: currency abolished.
March 1980: riel reestablished.
