As of 15 June 2007 the import and export of amounts exceeding EUR10,000 or equivalent from or to countries outside the European Union must be declared. The Isle of Man and the Channel Islands are not part of the European Union, therefore travellers from or to these must declare.
Customs officers may question anyone carrying large sums of money as to its provenance, and may seize it if not satisfied with the explanation.
Easily exchanged currencies: all major. Scottish and Northern Irish pounds are accepted in most large cities
