Camden Yards Sports Complex: Facility management: CMMS: Friend or foe?
Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), friend or foe? Pro- fessional sports teams, widespread, are now heavily dependent upon data-driven analytics to make their most important decisions to
play in the field. The same approach
and philosophy has been in place at the Maryland Stadium Authority for many years, allowing us to make the most effective and efficient decisions for the operations and maintenance of the buildings and properties which the teams engage.
Selecting the best CMMS for our specific needs and implementing the program was not a project; it was a journey of organizational discovery. A journey that was almost doomed to fail from the beginning yet through the hard work of a core team has become an enterprising software tool that touches all aspects of our operations. A journey that continues!
San Diego Padres making a push for sustainable practices
People into the stadium business are going in more for the greening process. De- signers, architects and manufacturers have been gearing up in the last couple of years for the rapid expansion of LEED-rated interiors. Petco Park, home of San Diego Padres, the American professional baseball team based in San Diego, Cali- fornia, has real bright LED lights. LED
lights are not only energy-efficient
but also help in financial savings
and enhanced broadcast quality. The
Major League Baseball (MLB) team
also promotes and practices envi-
ronmental sustainability. This seg-
ment will talk about how San Diego Padres
tries to offer its fans the best experience – no parking snarls, minimal costs and working for the cause of the environment.
