MTMP Vendor Spotlight: Room for Big and Small by Farron Cousins, The Ring of Fire Network
The exhibit hall at MTMP continues to grow with each conference. Legal service companies both large and small fill the room, with representatives engaged in lively conversations and demonstrations with the attorneys attending the conference. The vendor booths come in all shapes and sizes, as do the companies that they represent. But whether the booth and company are a small operation or a giant
in their field, they all offer something of value to those attending the conference.
We’d like to offer the spotlight to two vendors who have been coming to MTMP for quite a while, with their takes on how to keep things fresh, innovative, and interesting in the exhibit hall.
First, we have Peoplehunter.com, a company that helps law firms track down and contact individuals for their cases. Tracking down individuals that your case may depend on can be a long and arduous process, and Peoplehunter.com helps to take that burden off of attorneys.
When asked how MTMP has helped his business, Peoplehunter.com’s founder Flo Lawrence said, “Exhibiting at MTMP has been a gigantic catalyst to Peoplehunter.com’s growth and success. Mass tort cases have propelled Peoplehunter.com to the next level, and increased our business by multiples. Five years ago, 85% of the subjects we found were defendants and witnesses in personal injury cases. Only 10-15% were clients that were non-responsive to their attorneys. We’ve flipped the script. Today, 85% of the subjects we locate are clients who have disappeared, mostly from mass tort cases.”
Peoplehunter.com doesn’t have the biggest booth at the conference, instead choosing to purchase a single space, but when asked if that hinders their ability to attract clients when compared to the larger booths, Lawrence said that
it actually helps. “We don’t compete, we compliment each other,” Lawrence told me. “The powerhouse vendors drive
traffic and create energy in the hall. How can we not benefit from that? We talk to everyone who comes by (you’re more likely to see me in the aisle than behind the table), and once they find out what we do, they all exclaim, ‘We need that!’”
And when asked about the best way to communicate their business to prospective clients, Lawrence had the following to say: “We tell stories to communicate our value. Our record speaks for itself. We have located over 700 unresponsive Risperdal clients since November 1, 2019 for Texas law firm, and three-wayed them in to the litigation team. In 2018 we found over 400 Fed-Ex drivers from 22 states who had settlement checks that were mailed and came back. Facing an upcoming deadline, these drivers received their settlement money (which totaled about $11 million). With another looming deadline in 2018, we found 150 Depakote clients who received considerable settlements they would have missed.
These are just a few of our stories.”
There are dozens of smaller exhibitors like Peoplehunter.com at the conference, so make sure you don’t overlook them!
And there are obviously some groups that are impossible to overlook—the large vendors. As the conference has progressed over the years, so too have the size of some of the booths in the exhibit hall. Complete with TV monitors, couches, and larger-than-life displays, these
