P. 3
DEAR FRIENDS,
Reflecting on the past year fills us with gratitude as we recount the strides we’ve taken together, in fostering growth and pursuing our mission of Building for Better.
At the YMCA of the Suncoast, we are privileged to put Christian values into impactful action, nurturing the holistic well-being of our communities. We
can do this through our daily actions that shape a healthy spirit, mind and body for all. Your steadfast support remains the cornerstone of our endeavors, and for that, we extend our heartfelt thanks for your continued presence within the Suncoast YMCA family.
We have had some exciting developments
get underway this past year, symbolizing our commitment to expansion and innovation. Construction commenced on a remarkable nearly 10,000-square-foot addition to our Greater Palm Harbor YMCA branch. These enhancements promise an enriched experience for our members, amplifying the breadth of our programming. Moreover, plans for expansions at the John Geigle and Hernando YMCAs have reached fruition, with progress steadily unfolding. This is just the beginning, as we continue to work on projects at many of our locations. At
the YMCA of the Suncoast, we are dedicated to maintaining top-tier facilities and are excited for this progress.
As we work to fulfill our commitment to protect
the youth of our community, we continue to make great strides. The receipt of a $100,000 grant to support our FLOAT program, dedicated to infant and toddler swim safety, exemplifies our unwavering commitment to drowning prevention. We are also proud to announce our accreditation by Praesidium, solidifying our dedication to child sexual abuse prevention.
We also want to focus on innovative initiatives such as Coffee and Conversations, a pioneering pilot program aimed at combating loneliness among seniors at the Hernando Y. Programs such as these reflect our dedication to addressing evolving community needs. Already met with resounding acclaim, this program underscores our commitment to fostering social connections and enriching lives.
Furthermore, the launch of the YMCA Survivorship and Wellness Program, in partnership with Moffitt Cancer Center, indicates a significant milestone in
our ongoing efforts to support cancer survivors and their families. With a multi-year $50K commitment, this program epitomizes our steadfast commitment to providing comprehensive resources and support throughout the cancer journey.
None of our achievements would be possible without the remarkable generosity of our community. Last year, our Annual Giving Campaign garnered over $1.3 million in support, bolstered by the invaluable contributions of major donors who share our vision for the YMCA’s future. Additionally, we have successfully raised $600K for the James P. Gills Capital Campaign, a testament to our collective commitment to progress.
As we embark on another year of service and growth, we remain deeply grateful for your support and partnership. Together, we are poised to continue making a profound impact on the communities we serve.
With heartfelt appreciation,
Kimberly Briggs
